My aim is give you the funeral of your loved one that you can hold onto at a time of sadness and loss.
My concern is to reflect your memories in a service of celebration of life.
These are challenging times, when we lose a family member. A funeral is a way of expressing grief and starts the process of rebuilding life around that grief. Loss is something we never get over. We can with support and love of those around us, refocus on life and adapt the future, holding onto cherished memories.
"The life of the dead is placed in the memory of the living"
I will visit you in your home or a place convenient to you. I will listen, reflect, clarify and do my utmost to build a picture, a portrait of your loved one. Together we will plan the service and I will do whatever I can support you. I will spend time writing a eulogy if that is your wish, which will be confirmed as your narrative. At the funeral I will deliver that eulogy and be there to support you.
I hope the foregoing gives you an insight into my approach to what I believe is a very privileged role and responsibility. Through my career in public service I have had the honour of meeting people from all walks of life. The diversity of the human spirit is truly inspiring.
